Hello, i got on hands a N8 that have the brutal shutdown problem (it boots, and after 5 to 60 sec it brutally shutdown, i tested the battery on an other N8, that's not a battery problem)

What happens is the phone boot, and before the "dots", after the nokia screen, it brutally shutdown itself.
I know it doesn't have a moded rom, and it's not on warranty anymore ! (from nokia and the carrier)

I tried to flash it, but the phone fail to reboot in flash mode, making phoenix cry about lost connection.
(I have the right version of Phoenix, i have flashed delight on my working N8 and it's fine)

If i leave it a whole day, it will take about 60 sec before brutally shutdown, and then will return to the 5 sec brutal shutdown.
I managed to extract some files from the mass memory, as it got detected by the computer.

Phone currently run on vodaphone belle rom, if that's matter.

Regards

Weird,
Take any memory card out,
Boot in in a pc, in mass storage and try to delete sys/bin

Or if you can get it to show the HS go on the dialer and give it a proper hard reset *#7370#

hi

This can have many reasons, I don't know what causes this Huh

Did you try a 3-Finger hardreset?
After booting press: Volume down, camera and menu

If this doesn't work:
Try a Dead USB Flash via Phoenix 2012.04 with original firmware.

Greetings

Hello !

This phone doesn't have any memory card/sim card !
And i'm unable to have it stay on enough for the dialer :|
(unnable to make it reshow the mass storage too)

I already tried the firmware flash route.
Just tried the hardware hard reset without any luck.

If you have any other idea ... The nokia support point says they can only send it to Nokia's factory to change mother board, and  that wil cost $$$$$$$ because it's out of warranty.

that looks ok.

And than press 12 seconds the power key and after a fews seconds try to power on the device.

If this doesn't help I guess it's a hardware problem.

Will do that right now

Edit : Still the same result, guess the motherboard is dead for real :|

It cost the same price than buying a new phone to remplace the motherboard, easier and simplier to buy a 808.
(I'm happy it's not mine and someone gave it)

Thanks for your time everyone.

Now i have to think at what i will do with the dead N8. Maybe i'll use it to keep the door open when needed after removing the screen and the APN (who knows, they may be usefull), since it cannot break more.

Connect to Phoenix, change mode to local and run self-test. Change to normal mode when finished. See what it tells you. Try also downgrade to early Scandinavian version.

Local mode works with a dead phone? I don't know Huh
