Nvidia Tegra 3 quad-core processor

Following the developments in mobile phone telephone the latest to join the bandwagon are phones with Quad Core Processors.  The following are the latest phones featuring Quad Core Processors:

1. Samsung Galaxy S III

The Galaxy S III has a 4.8 inch has an AMOLED touch screen with a resolution of 720 X 1280 pixels. The smartphone is powered by quad-core 1.4GHz Arm Cortex-A9 backed by 1GB RAM with 8 MP Camera. The Galaxy S III  runs on Android  4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich.  Galaxy S III comes in three memory variants 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB along with this the phone also comes with a slot for microSD card that enabled the memory to be expanded up to 64 GB.

2. HTC One X

The HTC One X   is the first quad core powered phone from HTC stable.   The smartphone has a 4.7 inch display which comes with a resolution of 1280 X 720 pixels.   The smartphone is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor and backed by 1 GB RAM. One X functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The phone runs on an 1800 mAh battery. The phone has an 8MP rear camera with single LED flash which does capture brilliant pictures. It also has a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera which enables video calls.

3. LG Optimus 4X HD

Optimus 4X HD from LG comes   a 1.5 GHz Quad-Core Cortex-A9 processor with Nvidia Tegra 3 chipset and backed by 1 GB of RAM.  The Optimus 4X HD has a 4.7 inch True HD LCD touch screen display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels.  It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The phone has an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.3 mega pixel front facing camera which enables the user to make video calls. The smartphone comes with 16 GB internal memory along with a slot for the microSD card to expand the memory up to 32 GB.  It also has a 2150 mAh battery which is pretty powerful among its current peers.

4. Huawei Ascend D Quad

This phone does not appear in the list of best sellers but it is a good one.  It is powered with its own Huawei K3V2 1.5 GHz Quad-Core processor and backed by 1 GB of RAM. The phone functions of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system.  The Phone has  4.5 Hi-Res capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels. It comes with an 8 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera. The handset comes with an 8 GB internal memory and a microSD slot with which the the memory can be expanded up to 32 GB.  The suprise package of Huwai Ascend is Dolby Mobile 3.0 sound enhancement.  Though its battery is only 1800 mAh which is more than sufficient but not powerful as its peers.

5. LG Optimus G

This is another Quad Phone by LG LG  which has  a quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro Processor which is manufactured by Qualcomm. The smartphone comes with a 4.7 inch True HD IPS   touch screen with an impressive screen resolution of 1280 X 768 pixels.  The DNA of this phone is the True HD IPS  display which LG claims will use 70 % less power than other LCD smartphones. Optimus G runs on Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system. The manufactures have a piece of good news; the operating system will soon be upgraded to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The device comes with 13 mega pixel camera which LED flash. This phone is powered by 2100  mAh battery.

6. Samsung Galaxy Note II

Samsung Galaxy Note II is  another smartphone from the Samsung stable  is powered by a 1.6 GHz quad core CPU and is backed by 2 GB RAM. The Note has a 5.5 inch super AMOLED HD display and will have Jelly  Bean  operating system.  The Note comes with a 9 mega pixel rear camera and a 1.9 mega pixel front facing camera that will allows the user to make video calls. The device also comes with an improved S Pen which has been redesigned in such a way that it lends itself perfectly for writing and drawing on the screen.  It will further have features like "Air View feature" which allows the user to let the S Pen to linger over an email, image, video or the S Planner to see the content of the same without actually having to open it. Add to it there is "Idea Visualizer" which will help in illustrations using just keywords.  The device will be available in three memory options; 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB.  It is powered by a powerful 3,100 mAh battery.

7. ZTE Era

ZTE Era is one of the thinnest smartphones market has seem so far. It is just 7.8 mm thick. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad core Tegra 3 processor backed by 1 GB RAM. The phone has 4.3 inch TFT capacitive touch screen with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels.  The smartphone comes with an internal memory of 8 GB along with a slot for microSD slot which enables the user to expand the memory up to 32 GB. ZTE Era functions on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system    The phone has 8 mp rear camera.

All this phones are running on same or equal to same specs. The basic idea of Quad Core is at test which only time will prove, as in a quad core processor at any given time only a single core is put to use by the system unless the user tweaks it.

Is Quad a future or is it a myth perpetrated by mobile companies to make us believe that we have a super mobile in our hands?
