*ed it 3*
right for all having problems installling the app... make sure you add my code to the rompatcher patch... load up patch then install ngage app... (make sure open4all is also operational)
where are we with games.... none so far my general error is a kern-exec 3 one... happens with all games... just out pof interest i fired up my old ngage qd and tried to replicate the error... got it with splinter cell chaos theory when not all the files were installed so my guess is the directory structure for the n8 is different to the n97.. next task anyone got an n97 who can show me the directory structure of installed ngage games?Huh

*edit 2*
ngage app uploaded at end of this post Smiley
hope you get more luck than iv had so far will keep posting my progress

*EDIT*
managed to extract the source ngage app from the sis package... installed ok
selected from main menu games... APP LOADED UP!

hi all i have been a member of this forum for a while now but this is my first post.. anyway onto the topic
i have been trying.. in vain to get ngage to run on n8 belle official firmware...
i managed to install ngage app but it WILL NOT open. just stays at apps screen. the only available rompatcher patch says its for all sv5 devices... opening up the patch in notepad reveals a set of commands relating to hal.dll in the various handsets
for example
;Nokia 5800 rm-356 RM-427 5800i
#ifdef MACHINE_2000DA56
   SnR:sys\bin\hal.dll:56DA002056DA0020:DD4D0120DD4D0120
now after searching the interwebz i managed to find the uid of the nokia n8 as 20029A73 so the code for n8 SHOULD be something like

;Nokia n8 rm-596
#ifdef MACHINE_20029A73
   SnR:sys\bin\hal.dll:56DA002056DA0020:DD4D0120DD4D0120 (of course the hal.dll location is incorrect)
point number 2. Am i correct in assuming as sv5 software can run on n8... i can set the uid as an 5800 and trick rompatcher that way?
any suggestions as im realy devoted to getting this to run on the n8 and possibly all other s&3 devices

cheers

Dave

*edit*
it seems hal.dll doesnt exist in the n8 belle... where is the uid located i wonder

ah right i see. virtual keyboard does seem to be a bit of a pain. just thinking of maybe a gpsp esque virtual overlay which seems to do the job well.so do we think its impossible or just not woth the time/effort?
i for one would love my old ngage games back lol

ah right... i think i have actualy managed to compile MOST of the rompatcher patch now just missing the machine uid needed in hex
so far iv come up with...

;Nokia n8 rm-596
#ifdef MACHINE_20029A73
   SnR:sys\bin\hal.dll:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:DD4D0120DD4D0120
the hex code missing is the n8s muid.. the hex code shown is the n73s muid
if i can decode the muid from hal.dll which i extracted from z:/... then we may be able to get somewhere
afaik no one has yet to get the ngage running on s^3 at all...
would like to take the challenge... just need that blank filling in i think

*EDIT*
iv managed to fathom the missing code out from looking at symbians muid codes...

the final compile should look like this

;Nokia n8 rm-596
#ifdef MACHINE_20029A73
   SnR:sys\bin\hal.dll:739A0220739A0220:DD4D0120DD4D0120
#endif
now to test it.....

well... rompatcher allowed me to apply the patch.... ngage app still wont load Sad
i dont understand it tbh... if the n8 is capable of playing 5800 (sv5) games and apps... why cant it load this?Huh?
more digging is required
