Native Gmail app soon for iOS

Google in the midst of finishing their Gmail app for iOS and has very likely sent it to Apple for their review.
The native Gmail app will have built-in functionality like Priority Inbox and one-click starring of messages, perhaps contact icons, better threading, and deep searching functionality. with rumours of Google  integration. The question is now will Apple allow competition on the iPhone to compete with there own native email app.Sources say that their shouldnt be any issues for this in the future as, they have already allowed alternative web browsers for Safari on iOS already.

I grabbed the Gmail app as soon as it was released. It does work but doesn't push anything. I don't see any notification badges and/or anything in Notification Center.

Seems Google have released a couple of 'bad' iOS applications recently. Look what happened when they released the Google+ app.
