Hello everybody. Today I finally finished porting of C6 v40 to 5800. Some ports already exists, but I didn't like that they used a lot of files from v20 to get some functionality. Bunch of old files, in some case over 50 were used. I only used what was necessary.
This port has RomPatcher 3.0 and Nokia FileBrowser integrated. Reserved FOTA space is removed. Office, Adobe Reader, and Welcome are removed. English language is only present. Rest of the firmware is unmodified. I did my best to port this according to PNHT style. And, of course big thanks to PNHT for making all this possible.Screen shots:
While porting I encountered some issues and I fixed them. So, fixed issues are:
- HS going landscape when phone ringing,
- Keyboard.UPDATE 26.06.2011 (changelog):
- QT failing to install fixed;
- TV out fix (need confirmation from users)
- RomPatcher added to auto start and upgraded to v3.0
- Removed Slide Settings from Phone Management
- Completely removed Office and Adobe Reader
- Fixed issue with Voice Commands.
- Fixed Advanced VoIP settings not working.UPDATE 06.07.2011 (changelog):
- QT SmartInstaller failing fixed (this includes reading updated FAQ)
- Fixed Nokia Messaging application failing to install.
- Installserver.exe by PNHT removed. Use RomPatcher instead.

Little FAQ for everybody, and some other info. Thanks to oreo27 for parts taken from his topic.
Why is there a message that says "Installing" when I first open the OVI Store?
In this release of the C6 Firmware for the Nokia 5800, the automatic installation of the OVI Store was disabled. It will install only once and you'll be able to use it normally. If you however cannot open it successfully, download the latest version from your Mobile Browser, or try activating installserver patch in RomPatcher. Is my current software version important when flashing?
Here's a general rule. Do not downgrade. When it comes to Nokia, downgrading will kill your phone. I have problems with my favourite contacts. I can't see them!
See this guide for properly restoring them. - Link to GuideI'm having problems with my Slide to Unlock
You have installed a Task Manager such as Jbak Task Manager. The Slide to Unlock does not work with Task Managers. Uninstall it and try again.QT applications fails to install. SmartInstaller error. Why?
PNHT installserver.exe breaks for some reason Nokia Smart Installer. Remove it from rofs2. To hack you phone, you'll have to apply installserver patch with RomPatcher. In order to install QT application, installserver patch needs to be disabled for the first QT application you install. You can later enable installserver patch and install QT applications without any problem. My browser crashes. Why?
Most probable cause is using mods for browser from C6 v20. Do not use those modes and do not move browser cache to memory card and browser should work fine. Why my language is not available?
Some languages are not yet on Nokia servers, so that's why you can't see them here.
My keyboard does not auto-rotate from alphanumeric to qwerty and vica-versa.
and download mode for auto-rotate. Big thanks to dan-av for the mode. Are OVI contacts included in this port?
No, Nokia removed that.Is WiFi working in this port?
Yes. If you want better sensitivity, use this mode
. Thanks to alfiemoustache.I'm getting error when trying to install QuickOffice or Adobe Reader.
Fixed rofs2 is re-uploaded. Or you can download attached .app file and use it with NFE to delete files from ROFS2.Haptic Feedback (Touch Screen Vibration) is to strong.
Download attached file (2000B494.rar) and extract the file to private\10202be9. If you don't want to flash again, just drop the file to the same location on c:\.
My option Advanced VoIP Settings is not working.
Re-download rofs2. It's fixed.Clean Your Memory Card
There are some settings files and other data on your microSD card, clearing them out will eliminate bugs and ensure error-free usage.
Connect your microSD card to your Personal Computer/Notebook. You can do this either by connecting through the USB cable provided with your handset and selecting
"MassStorage" as the connection mode while the microSD card is inside your phone or by through connecting a card reader and placing your microSD card in the card reader.
Delete the following Folders from your Memory Card.
Private - Settings Files for Symbian and Other Applications.
Resource - Resource files for Applications like menus and help files.
Sys - Application Executables
System - Other unnecessary files.Waiting for comments.
P.S. Attached file is .app file which can be used with NFE to completely remove Quick Office and Adobe Reader from rofs2. I re-uploaded my rofs2 with those removed, but this is for those who don't want to download again.
