Hi mates,

I'm trying to port/update some apps from 5800 (original firmware) to I8910, and need some advice.
Let's see if I understood the idea: (suppose that this is for the same app)

1st - Check for dependencies ("dll" files) and launched executables on both phones.
2nd - Check for dependencies of unique 5800 "dll" files.
3rd - Convert to EPOC files that need it.
4th - Copy to I8910 firmware and try.

I'm using "Active File" to view dependencies and launched executables  and using aRomAT to convert to EPOC.
Thanks to rem_dm for the "Active File" guide, and to CODeRUS for that useful tool.

Am I missing something? Am I wrong?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Regards.

I'm trying to update more than porting.

The main goals are e-Mail app and Gallery.
The e-Mail app on 5800 is blazing fast compared to I8910 one, also the Nokia one knows the right settings of security and ports for POP3 and IMAP for Hotmail and Gmail.
On the MediaGallery2 side, any improvement is a huge step forward, as the default version on I8910 is stutter problem plagued.

Secondary goal is the music player, as I can't live without a customizable equalizer, also the v52 version has covers on the artist list as the one from C6 or N97.
If the porting of this Music Player can't be achieved, at least I'll try to find a fix to the kinetic scroolling stutter, and the "m4a" file problem encoded with AAC+ (strange behaviour at the start of playback of the song).

These are my goals, but if anyone suggests any other application to make the phone faster, I'll be happy to test whenever I have some time.

Thanks for your interest.

Regards.

I would port the N97 gallery instead of the 5800 one, the 5800's gallery is laggy as hell.

The gallery from N97 is glx.exe and is linked to matrixmenu, so it'll need a lot of work. The MediaGallery2.exe on firmware v52 isn't so laggy and on I8910 with a faster proccesor, it should be fine.
