Nokia n8 AMOLED Display Colour problem!

Hello you all!

I have a problem with my display and i need you. In this post i will give you some test images and my samples so you will see what i mean!

I have problem with dark colour, if it is dark it is ok, and then if it is less dark then it appears violet. That is really anoying when watching movies when the movie is dark it is all violet and wierd colours. Example when you watch tron trailer whitc is uploaded on telephone and the colours are like it were be in 16bit colour (like in windows)

And another thing. When i start QTorch app in deafult menu of the app it is not dark it is violet around the qtorch logo and ON button! It souppouse to be black around those logo and on button!

Sorry for my bad english and the pictures are not brilliant quality but it show the point!

yes i have been noticing the same too ..... even happens when i play 720p videos .... maybe its somthin to do with frames processing

sounds like a defective screen - get it replaced under warranty

Yeah, get it replaced, I haven't got that problem.

Though it seems to be quite common.

I checkd mine with all the pics you posted ... somthin is wrong with your screen .... get it checked

Hello to you all!

I have just write email and send pictures to NCC and they tell me to bring them my phone imidietly so they can see what is wrong!

Hello to you all!

Today i got call from NCC and they say that they replaced my screen and touchscreen pad and that this is normal. Even with new screen it was the same result.

I dont know what to do :S

i have the exact same issue.. it is so annoying. But apparently the HTC Desire had a similar issue with its AMOLED displaying greys as pink.. This issue was subsequently resolved by the froyo update.. so i am hoping that this is a software issue.. especially since you had your screen changed and had the same issue.. What do you guys think?

But there is a very strange thing, a lot of other users have good display, few my friends does not have this problem. So how could be firmware problem. I hope it is, because n8 is flagship phone and these things cannot happened. And in nokia c7 everything is ok. But on internet i found a lot of people that they have problem with colour, but a lot more they say it is ok.

I am confused :S

Hmm.. from what i have seen online.. the first batch of N8's have darker screens with unrealistic colours... while the second batch shows more realistic colours but has problem with darker gradient adjustment.. I dont know if Nokia changed their screen manufacturer.. or if they just tweaked the amoled settings in the second batch.

I guess Samsung is the only major manufacturer which can make Amoled screens...

there are a few others producing amoleds, so it's entirely possible nokia switched, tho' samsung is - like you said - the biggest contributor (obviously)

I have the same problem too. Dark scenes in films are particularly bad. I hope it can be fixed in firmware but I doubt it. When I display the picture test1.png (8.19 KB, 990x768) from above, I get a dark red line where it should be black.
