This is also why apple choose to put a 256k screen so that it's colour os better than other phones. The 256 is also better because it does not have enough colours(!) to shine so bright. Actually, mobile phones which do use a 16 mil screen and has a bad screen backlight looks better than another phone with the same screen but good backlighting!

afaik there isnt any difference between 252k and 16 m to the naked eye ..what makes the differnce is screen resolution /display size (dpi ) and type of screen used (lcd or oled)

also apple iphone has 16M and not 252k

These pics are from mobile-review, the review of the Nokia n95 if I am not mistaken. And don't you mean TFT and OLED( or AMOLED?).

Well on mobile phones it's best to say TFT. On TFT screens, the pixels are obliged to be lit up by a backlight and they consume more energy. OLED screens are much more power efficient since it's pixels light by themselves so no bright backlight is needed. Also for oled the colors are much more vivid

ya its tft lcd ...
but tft lcd screens have more service life than oled ...also not to mention that sunlight legibility of oled screens is not good

Yeah, but that Is a prob that can be easily solved, since oled have a wider viewing angle that TFT's, all you need to do outdoors is tilt the devices' screen and your back to normal.

i think they should start concentrating more on display instead of aspect ratio it is much more important to have a higher than qvga resolution on big screens

Yeah, then the screens would have to be bigger than 2'8 inch screens today. Cause anything beyond that which does not have a touch screen is pretty much useless

There is obviously a difference in the screens, so post #1 is comparing apples to oranges.  How about going further and putting, say an AMOLED display of 64k colors vs. the iPhone.  Screen tech and contrast ratios will always make things look better.  Wink

Nokia N85 (on the right) vs Nokia N96: N85 uses AM-OLED

Yup I pulled them shamelessly from mobile-review Tongue
Interesting comparison between 5800's and N85's screens. link
