Why did you put a screen of the menu and the homescreen to the first post? It has nothing to do with the lockscreen!

I found something....

"New Lock/Unlock Screen: This is maybe just a little Thing again, but it makes Life with the C6 so much easier. When the Screen is locked, push the Menu Button (which also serves as Notification Light by the way) and the Screen gives you a quick overview about Time, Date, missed Calls and SMS. Fantastic Stuff. There’s also a nice little “Slide to unlock”-Bar, similar to the Bars you get when someone calls you."

The Symbian^2 is S60v5 too, but has some more up-to-date kernel system, new UI (even if you won't notice, but menu3 was replaced by matrixmenu and XMLUIML based homescreens by a single one), and some more refinements. And also, matrixmenu and the new UI system uses such functions from Avkon, what aren't in S^1, CAN NOT BE PASTED INTO S^1 VERSION (as it would interfere with a lot of currently used functions), so it is definitely S^2. Also, there are a lot more library like Avkon, updated, not compatible, cannot be ported.

Symbian^2 wasn't skipped, but to be no-open source, Nokia stopped it's development officially. Looks like they did not do this, but continued some little projects (like C6) with it.

you must see that two links
1:http://www.symbian.org/devices?manufacturer=10&platform=Symbian%5E1&form-factor=All&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Byear%5D=&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bmonth%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bday%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bhour%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bminute%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bsecond%5D=0
2:http://www.symbian.org/devices?manufacturer=10&platform=Symbian%5E2&form-factor=All&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Byear%5D=&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bmonth%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bday%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bhour%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bminute%5D=0&date_announced%5Bvalue%5D%5Bsecond%5D=0
and look at there is no nokia mobile run with
symbian^2 in other link you will see that nokia N97,N97mini,5800,x6,c6,5530,5230 run with symbian^1

Believe me, matrixmenu CAN NOT RUN on S^1. This is a fact. And if you try to replace S^1 libraries with matching S^2 ones to make it run, you will fail. Too much incompatibility. Nokia won't tell us it is S^2 because it failed so much. Also the homescreen, and all stuff, even the KERNEL is S^2! I know it, I have been after this for weeks, so I know what I am saying.

What do you think why porting the N97 homescreen is impossible? Do not care about the PNHT method, it isn't really porting just the HS but the whole firmware. But the HS itself is impossible to port BECAUSE OF INCOMPATIBILITY AND DIFFERENCES IN THE LIBRARIES. If you copy these new libraries, they will break the whole system, as they would require more and more S^2 libraries. It is simply not possible to port, nor matrixmenu. Even with the source code, you couldn't do that, because of this. Nor Nokia could do that, as even they can not solve the incompatibility. In S^2 Symbian got some updated and cleaned libraries, some functions got removed, some got updated, and some new came in. The HS, matrixmenu, the whole UI is based on this. If you grab the new files and replace old ones, you will just get a not working bunch of DLL's. Is it enough proof for you or do you need some more?
