lol it has been long coming that n series will no longer be powered by symbian, when the time comes who knows, i hope sooner than later. what is also clear is that symbian will continue to provide os to the mid tire seciont of the phone line up.

IMO, this is terrible "reporting" and makes no sense.  Is Phat Trance trying earnestly to kill the N8, or is he just reporting on something he heard from someone that has been validated by a second credible source? I would buy into the notion that this is the last N-series to sport Symbian^3...but that should not be news considering the Symbian Foundation's published development path for Symbian^4. IMO, Meego will stay with N9 and the S-series for the mid-term..

Phat always references things he posts, such is business of being a journalist on the web. click the link and see. this is nothing new, the news has been around for months if not longer. so i am not sure why people are flipping out about symbian being dead on n series, i happen to think that it is a great move for the company!

symbian^3 will still be used, just not on nseries devices. Anyway whatever happens, my contract runs out in october so if there is a meego phone by then then i'll go for it, otherwise get the n8 or android phone.

Well, as a customer I am slightly puzzled.

What I'm reading is don't buy N8 but wait for it's MeeGo cousin. I would think, if Nokia has dropped S^3 and believe MeeGo is the way forward, why should I not wait and buy what they believe is 'the way forward'. I would win big if I bet it will have same specs as N8 (even better) just to tell N8 buyers two fingers!

The next issue is whether to buy the very first MeeGo platform N-series. Would it be stable? Would I be beta testing it like the S60 V5 flops when it came out? If Nokia can do so badly on N97 S60v5 from a stable S60 3rd, what about MeeGo?

Why just one device on S^3 and not wait to release N8 on MeeGo?

As an investor, I won't put my money an any new shares and wait until there are some concrete decisions. Something to convince me that people sit in a boardroom, make decisions and stick with them and commit to them. Something that would tell me a company has alot of ideas in their alpha testing, but would only implement what they believe is a long term, concrete strategy. Again, I'm just one Nokia customer who loved Nokia with some small change to buy shares here and there. What about Massive investors, big buyers who buy for corporations or those who analyse things to the nth degree (big money)?

Very good if Nokia move the N series to MeeGO!
Coz Symbian S60V5 and the "3 edition" are stuck on 2006/7.

One again I say: Wake up Nokia! We are in 2010!

PS: Yes, the 12MP Cam of the N8 is the only right thing it have.

I think in every forum you get a loose cannon  Huh just dishing out stuff without research. Well, to begin with, I've had E51 and it was as solid as a rock both in software and hardware.

The issue is not what smart phone you had or what I had and what problems you had or I had. If you think about it, you may just download one application and it will create problems on a phone even thought everything is fine with the SDK. That's why there are constant updates to different apps to address these issues! So I won't go into the childish argument to say because I had a good E51, then it's a perfect s60v!. I would approach this from a different angle (educated), check out the para below  Grin

I have attached a you tube interview from Nokia recounting the mistakes they have had in the earlier releases of S60v5, what problems they had, the updates they tried to create to solve them and how even the updates they released still created other problems with the OS. Now, your homework before going to school tomorrow is to at least listen to this (reading could be hard to you as I have gathered).

Why N97, well it could have been 5800 but this is the first time someone in Nokia admits a flop in a phone's software (s60v5). If the question/ interview was done with 5800, probably the same answer would have come out  Grin

You have to understand that the Nokia spokesperson is speaking from the inside knowledge of the problems. The good news is, he never spoke of s60v3!

Conclusion: Nokia have never admitted a mistake of such a big issue, apart from s60v5!!  Grin

yup i've seen this vid abt n97.. btw when u know how 2 handle it, it is stable and best nokia ever.. in symbian of cuz, i haven't used maemo Smiley
wat abt e51 then how do u like superslow v2xx. firmwares, errors with pass-protected WLAN's in fw v100. , extreme energy usage by WLAN causing the phone to overheat (fixed only in v400. !), as i told already super reboot function sometimes when using internet radio (and on latest fw!) and oh yes crappy A2DP profile, which's even better in any s40!! lucky me i bought 5800 not E52 (equal money), no eseries anymore, E52 seemed to me so cool and 'stable' to upgrade from E51, but even the 3.2mp camera is withOUT AF! damn! trash this.. all eseries is bigger fail than N97. and they call these ultra-tiny buttons on E7x/E5 (except E75) devices 'QWERTY' kbd, oh, lol. even E55 one is better..
in addition i can say.. not to abuse anyone!! if u r old dumb and don't need multimedia functions at all, go get eseries. stable as rock. btw, as i said as bonus u'll have: crappy player sound (like from bucket), ultra-noisy camera without AF, etc.
normal ppl need multimedia, so i think eseries is kindda 'think different' Roll Eyes

Well, I think this sums up the purpose of your taking part in this forum.

Do you know how old I am?

Who told you old people do not need multimedia?

Who told you Eseries does not have multimedia?

Do you know what phone I have now? I mentioned I had E51 (yeah, for work!)

Conclusion: You're not here to be educated or to learn anything! You simply came here to abuse people, make assumptions and it seems like you need to understand things before you speak. As an example, you don't know me and you don't know any of the answers above but you jumped into some assumptions!! Waste of my time. Why even bother?

Hehe, at least you learned something from that vid!  Grin

even if i don't know you, i can compare what i see and what i hear. i've got my hands on some eseries (E71, E66, E50-E51-E52-E55, E63, E65, E75) and compared to XM phones or Nseries they suck at this thing. As i mentioned, i didn't have an intention to abuse you or any others, just i know some ppl poppin' out with eseries nokias and grumblin' 'i don't need a camera i don't listen any music i care only about my business' so that's why i said like that.
ok sum facts to proove u: i'm kindda quizzed. my first s60 was N70 - great camera, 2mp, video was 352*288 - good enough to post 'n' watch online. when i exchanged it to E51, i was like f**ked up with this cam: noisy photos in cloudy day, crappy QVGA video shitty even to watch on PC, and huh i've used ol' s40 5300 - well it's 1.3 mp cam busts E51's one out in photo part. not to mention listening bassy music in good earbuds in 3120 classic is way better than in E51.
