i am considering buying htc desire or nexus one.
Can this two mobile play games like N.O.V.A. of gameloft or other high quliaty games

If the games are developed for Android platform, then HTC Desire can play it. This is simply because it is together with the Nexus One the most powerful Android phone available in the market.

yes it is capable of playing it.. htc desire could run Asphalt 5 at a very decent FPS with the new asphalt 5 version update.. seems like gameloft has started to debug the games to work properly on snapdragon processor devices instead of the original direct port from the iphone version..
