    Default unlocking

can any1 reply to a small query of mine?? didn't knew where to post it, so just posted it here.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO UNLOCK A PHONE USING J.A.F??

I MEAN IF I CHANGE THE WHOLE FIRMWARE THEN WHAT'LL HAPPEN TO THE LOCK??

BECAUSE ACCORDING TO ME THE PHONE IS LOCKED BY MAKING SOME CHANGES IN THE FIRMWARE( i may be wrong), please tell me is there any other way to unlock a phone..
generally the other forums(related to unlocking) say that a unlock code is needed to unlock the phone and the code can be only received by calling the sim company... but i'm thinking of buying a locked phone because the cost is quite less and most of the people dont know how to unlock the phone(like me). so can anyone tell me how to unlock the phone

p.s. the phone is nokia n97 black

Okay, are you talking abou ta network lock or a security lock?

A network lock is when your mobile phone is locked to a certain service provider like Orange, Vodaphone or T-Mobile. This can be unlocked by using JAF box. Or it can also be done through a repair shop.

A security lock will be applied to a handset if you downgraded your mobile phone (corrupting the PM) in which ironically, the IMEI is stored. A sign that this lock has been placed is the frequent restarting of your handset (every 10 mins). This can also be fixed with a JAF box or a repair shop.

Both procedures would cost you about 5-10 bucks at a repair shop. A JAF box will be a little bit more expensive.

you would need a JAF box. It's hardware. I'm not really sure how much it costs. Or you can do it at a repair shop for around 5-10 bucks. Way cheaper than buying an unlocked phone mate.
