Do I need to update my N97 mini (RM555) from v10 to v11 before I run this? Won't it just write over the v10 firmware automatically?
Only had the phone a few days so I want to be sure before I kill it by accident!

Nokia seems to have updated the package of firmware v11.0.045 to 2.0 or something (yeah, it seems to be a version of a version).

    Original filename (PNHT): RM555_11.0.045_uda_1_001.uda.fpsx
    Filename of new firmware: RM555_11.0.045_uda_16_001.uda.fpsx

This is causing the CRC error I guess.

PNHT, can you please update your hack to the latest firmware?

    [EDIT]
Yes, I did rename the file just like sankar24 said, RM555_11.0.045_uda_1_001.uda.fpsx to RM555_11.0.045_uda_16_001.uda.fpsx and overwrote it, but I do get the following error:
    FYI:
    ---------------------------
    Product flashing failed.
    ---------------------------
Getting list of files to be flashed failed: 0x84210021(-2078212063) - CRC checksum of file 'c:\program files\nokia\phoenix\products\RM-555\RM555_11.0.045_uda_16_001.uda.fpsx' does not match with the checksum in data-package.

Sorry to ask this again, but can I just write one of these hacked firmwares with Phoenix to any N97 mini? Does it matter what the old firmware is if it gets written over? I've flashed some older Nokias and SEs without having to worry about anything other than the exact phone model. Thanks!

The way it works for sure is just update via NSU first to the latest firmware, and then flash the firmware for your product code using phoenix with this modified file.

However, it seems the hack is not usuable anymore on the latest firmware (second version of v11.0.0.45)..

Thanks. I will leave try to update to v11.0.0.45 v1 then before I hack. I still do not understand why it matters what the current firmware is though if you write a complete new firmware to the phone with Phoenix.

I tried flashing the same firmware with the hack of post 1 using JAF where it did not give the CRC error (I guess it doesn't even check).. However, when it started the first time it gave 'System Error'. After that when I tried to access the menu, the phone crashed and rebooted.

Directly after that I reflashed my phone using NSU as I did not trust this. After reflashing everything was fine again.

    Here goes:

    1) I was initially running v10. v11 still isn't available in my region. So first, I changed the product code for my mini to the product code for a mini did that have the v11 update released. I followed this tutorial here: http://thesymbianblog.com/2009/07/02...97-nokia-5800/
    2) To find the product code, I used this list: http://www.symbian-master.com/index.php?topic=300.0
Can't remember what I chose, but it was from that list. Then I ran NSU, which finally found an update for me. I then updated to v11. This is all unnecessary if your region has v11 released.
Just to clarify, you started with a 553, then changed the code to a 553 which had v11 out for it? And were then able to patch it with 555 files?
