    thnx , but i thought *#7370# as a soft reset so what they mean by soft reset?

    soft reset is *#7780# ...
    it resets ur phone settings to factory default

    Tks to all for your input. Basically i just backup my important contents like contacts, messages, calendar and then just reset the phone using *#7370#.

    Then i format the SD card and reinsert into the phone, it should auto install back all the default directories and files. So I do not need to back up any data at all on the SD card ya.

    Hope I got it rite, wouldn't want to lose any important system files. Thanks again to all.

    no it will not remove sim card contacts , sim cards are separate from the phone's os

    yes it will as they are stored on the phone and not on the sim card, the only safe thing that will not be removed is the infomation on the sim. everything on the phone will be lost so make sure you do a back up
