    Just wondering but what is the difference between 2g and 3g and what effect does it have on a phone?

    1. Phone in standby (gsm), no wifi/bt, screen not lid and phone in lock mode
    Current measure: Average 3mA through out the day, 1320mAH/3mAH=440 hours.
    I measured the standby current for about 10-15 min with GSM only, no wifi/bt, phone locked, screen not lid, no other applications running and it is 25-30 mA, not 3 mA. It means 44 hours in idle mode with totally black display. That matches my experiences that my battery life is about 2 days with very very light usage: 1 call in a week (about 3 minutes), no texting, locked almost all the day. My phone is 3 months old. Firmware: 40.0.005

    Hmm... Let's see now. I charged mine Monday morning and it's now 1 AM on Thursday. My battery indicator has lost one segment so far.

    I am running v40. 3G, WiFi and so forth are off. I use Handy Taskman to shut down all unnecessary apps. I make a few calls a day. Since the last charge, I have installed around 10 apps and uninstalled around 5. Plus I have taken one full backup on MicroSD, defragmented the mass memory and optimized my RAM.
    I have transferred files back and forth, all using BT (including app installations). There has been about 10 mins of GPS use and perhaps 20 mins of music listening as well.
    Display brightness is set to next to lowest. There are also two daily alarms in use.

    Methinks v40 has brought better battery life, don't you think?

    EDIT: Come thursday morning and now two segments have gone out.

    Why do people turn off 3G? Isn't having a 3G network the whole point of a 3G phone?

    That's like saying, "I'll use dial-up internet because it uses less power than broadband"...crazy!

    Latest firmware v40 having highier idling current use, confirmed with 8 hours monitoring...

    v31 => idling current average 3mA
    v41 => idling current average 7mA

    Observed during idling the phone having lots of current spikes range 6mA~9mA.

    Of course I turn it back on when surfing the web (if away from home, that is. At home, I use WiFi).

    Guys...how long does the phone last with continuous wifi use. I feel the wifi and GPS are the two biggest battery eaters. I use wifi a lot (1-2 hours a day) and sometimes I have to charge twice a day...is this normal?
