Default Re: How to convert and install video's/movies on the Nokia 5800

Hi I am using FreeVideoToiPodConverter and it works well.I am using it to watch movies on my nokia 5800 and I am also able to watch the converted video on my TV by connecting the supplied audio video tv cable that came in the box with the nokia 5800. Settings to convert :select IPOD in devices and in presets use the "IPOD TOUCH HIGH QUALITY (MPEG 30 FRAMES PER SECOND 640 * 480 ,AAC 192 BIT).When I go on a holiday I am taking my movies with me and I can watch them on the TV in my hotel room or on my phone when I am travelling by train. Hope this helps :O) cause it worked for me.

    Hi,
initially i had same problem, now i used "Transfer video" app from Nokia PC suit and it can copy any avi and mp4 file to mobile in few minutes.
it reduces the screen size and so the file size reduce to approx 50%.

I just tried the Ovi suite to convert my video file, and as great as the quality was, there was about a second of video/audio sync problems.

    Will try Phat's guide next.

dont increase the kbit too much 768-1000 is appropriate for watching on a mobile screen ...u will get high quality video even at this rates ...overdoing it will make ur videos slutter .
watching a 2000+ kbit video on mobile screen makes no sense

yea i would say that the free zune converter does work better.offers more options and a better UI.i also feel that the conversion is faster.maybe its just me

converting at a higher rate would mean a large file size.same thing if you were to try and play a 18gig 1080p movie on your computer,it would just take more resources.its just too much for phone to watch a 2000bitrate..besides,you'll only know a difference when there is a context for it to be placed in.do you really want to spend time converting a movie with a super high quality and then watch it over and over and over again? Im assuming most users are just converting few eps of their shows and then updating every so often.

I love to watch hd quality videos on my tube. So when i convert i select the following settings.
    Video:
    Codec : mpeg4
Resolution : width must not exceed 640 and height must not exceed 360
To make sure that the Aspect ratio is maintained you have to map either the original width to 640 or original height to 360. If both can be mapped then thats grt.but it is possible only with 16:9 aspect ratio videos. Heres a few eg.
Original Movie Res. Res for 5800XM (Screen size 640x360)
    352x240 528x360
    512x288 640x360
    1280x640 640x320
Birate : 1024 for HD quality, 512 if you want a smaller file size (i use 512 for movies)
Framerate : 25 (30 if the original framerate is over 25)

    Audio :
    Codec : aac
    Bitrate : 128
    Channel : 2
    Sample rate : 11025

    I hope that helps
