    Default LCD during call

I have noticed today that when a call comes in my screen is not lighting up, the vibrate works, as does assigned ring tones and the 3 coloured buttons work, has anybody else experienced this problem.
If I unlock to make a call the phone the screen lights up and I can access the menus etc.

are u talking abt ur phone screen goin off when u r in call ...
there is a sensor called proximity sensor which turns off your screen to prevent your touchscreen button to get pressed against your cheecks when u r in call

No, as the call comes in the screen does not light up to say who is calling

Do you have a screen protector on you phone? Many people have had problems with the screen not turning on when the phone is ringing and in most cases the reason for that is that the screen protector covers the sensor/does not have holes for the sensor. That's why the sensor does not work propely.

Just my tought on the subject

I put a new protector on at the weekend, which I have now removed and the contacts show now when the phone rings.
Looking at my screen protector it covers the lens at the top right hand corner where my sons doesn`t.

There you have it Now if you buy a new screen protector remember to check that it has been designed for the 5800 with proper holes etc.

Yup I had the same problem, the screen protector was the culprit. As soon as I cut holes in the screen protector to expose the sensor, the LCD worked as it should and displayed the CLIP info, etc.

So check your screen protector if you have this problem.

This is consistent with what you'd expect. As far as I'm aware the proximity sensor on the 5800 emits weak IR pulses, if an object comes close to it the pulses are reflected back and the handset reacts accordingly. Because the screen protector is covering the sensor the IR pulses are being reflected back continuously.
