First thing I tried was removing battery. It was fully charged last night. I have tried to charge it several times. Sometimes the back light comes on sometimes it doesn't. Still won't turn on tho

I haven't installed anything new for ages, and have tried removing memory card. Bit worried about the whole 'flash' thing. Will it effect my warrenty? Does it delete everything from phone?

did you try doing hard reset by pressing red/green/camera key ..

if nothing works then i guess u will have to flash your phone ...
make sure u select firmware for your product code that way u wont void warranty ...

if u cant find firmware for your product code...then just flash your phone now ...
then reinstall the firmware with nsu ...that way u will get your original firmware and u will retain warranty ...

but make sure u flash with firmware version u had on phone ...dont upgrade or downgrade

A hard reset will delete everything tho won't it? Just a bit nervous about doin anything that drastic if it can be rescued. Do you know if many people have had this problem?

Maybe U install some application that is responsible to this problem. I had problem that I put several apps in phone, and my alarm clock wasn't working when my phone was off. :P Imagine that morning...
