    Default 5800 "missing" phone memory

    Hey guys n' gals

When I check the phone memory from the file manager I have 67mb in use, and 19mb free.
I'm quite sure I havent installed so many apps that this should be right.

accodring to the file manager: pictures, sound and sis files amount to something like 34mb, but then theres the "other files" which shows 43mb. What does the "other files" consist of?

When I check the phone memory through PCsuite the main folder size is around 24mb.(don't remember exactly, i'm typing this at work )

Any ideas how I can check what takes up so much memory and how can I free it up?

The other apps are your installed apps. These files are where the apps store the .txt files. Also, in the images folder, you might see a folder called pal_btn( or something like that). Delete that folder, it takes a lot of unneccessary space. And I recommend you to move all your audio files, images etc to your memory card so as to optimize your phone's operation speed. Hope this helps.

Just checked that I have 18 installed applications on the phone memory. That might be the cause

Still I'm not so sure. My friend just got the same phone, and he wanted most of the same apps I've got installed.
After he installed them he was still left with well over 50mb.

I only use the phone memory for apps and then I have two themes and maybe one ringotone there.
Everything else goes on the memory card.

Clear your cache in your main browser, check your memory then

Thanks. That gave me a few mb's back

Forgot to mention that I bricked my phone some time ago, as so many have with faulty themes. I flashed my bricked phone following the guide posted here.
After that I've updated to V20. I dont know if this could have caused it.

Do you still have those faulty themes that appear even though you thought you had deleted them?

The free available memory varies between markets. It depends in which market you are, this means that there might be some extra software implemented into the firmware. It also depends whether your phone is branded cause many operators like to play with the firmwares and make some of their own adjustments.
