    Default What is that "Simplified Chinese" app?

    I have a US 5800 that does not support Chinese. But from the Application Manager, I saw a "Simplified Chinese" app Version 1.00(0) installed on SD card (468K)?

    Anyone knows what it is?

    I only found it in Settings->Application Mgr.->Installed apps., so no unique icon there. It is not a real app shown in Applications, so I cannot even "run" it.

    Here are its details from Installed apps,
    =============================
    Name:
    Simplified Chinese

    Version:
    1.00(0)

    Supplier:
    Nokia (so it is an official app? )

    Status:
    Installed

    Memory in use:
    E:Memory card

    Application size:
    468 kB

    Format:
    Symbian OS

    Type:
    Application
    =================================

    I noticed it after my recent trip to China. But I am not sure if it was there before. After inserted Chinese SIM card, I believe the phone installed something. But I am not sure what it was doing.

    Before the trip, I did download Chinese maps in Ovi maps.

    Again, my phone is a US version with factory firmware (v40) that does not support Chinese language at all. It would be nice if this "app" could add Chinese support, but I do not see how to use it.

    Also, while those apps installed in main memory or memory card, generally speaking, where should I check the actual files? I have X-plore installed.

    Thanks.

    1. to be able to read chinese - search the forum, there is for sure an universal font that will help you do that.
    2. to try and locate the files: you need to find the UID of the app and then locate the folder named the same as UID in \\private\ folder.

    for locating the files, there is also another way, more difficult, so first try step 2.

    The "Simplified Chinese" app is for the built-in Dictionary. You can download and remove any language from within the Dictionary. It doesn't add support for writing/reading Chinese messages.

    That is it! Now I remember I downloaded Chinese in Dictionary before the trip, even though I did not really use it .
