    @ogremount

    I can't tell you why it started.
    As oranabana (above) said, it's a hardware issue, this subject has been written in dozen of times - go back two yea - it's a screen problems.

    To my phone, it starts when when the temperature drops below 10°, later it was 14°, and by 22° I got a new screen : warranty.
    So if you by any chance, still have warranty to your phone (58ooXM is not a youngster any more), let Nokia do the work . . . . . you have already paid ! ! (warranty is baked into price: the day you purchase your phone).

    If you don't have warranty: purchase the screen as a spare part. You find it all over the Internet. (mytrendyphone.es > I'm doubtful if can send a link . . . so I send you a PM).
    But no matter from whom you orderer, just make sure that the seller send you the new production of Nokia screens (Nokias own article no: 4850096. The first (old) Nokia screen was article no: 4850098. It's the screen which make trouble to you now).

    And to replace the screen: nearly every blacksmith or handyman do to you in Spain.

    P.S. Forget about magnet-trick.

    I had same problem with my Nokia 5800 screen. My mobile was out of warranty, when i approached nokia care they told LCD should be replaced. Its cost me INR.2300 rupees.

    @prafdesa

    How interesting ?
    Thousands of 5800 XM owners have done the same.

    Come one guys . . . . why are your doing this ?
    Posting superfluous in this topic/Forum with empty chatter. That helps nobody in solving there problems with horizontal bands on the 5800 XM screens.

    But, if your have a contribution, come on !

    I solved this problem.
    Try this:
    1.Lock your phone
    2.Wait 10 seconds
    3.Press power button
    4.Unlock your phone

    Do this few times, it will help.
