    Default Iphone 3G 412 MHz 128 MB ram, Nokia X6 434Mhz 128MB ram

    Iphone 3G 412 MHz, 128 MB ram
    Nokia X6 434Mhz 128MB ram

Any idea why Iphone 3G run much faster and smooth compared to Nokia X6?
Is it because it has a better processor or?

Oh, I was wondering that for a long time.
    Thanks for the answer.
I missed out the part on graphics... =x
As for OS, Nokia should really improve. ><

It's quite simple. The 3G contains a real processor that is underclocked, while the X6 has a pretty weak ARM 11 processor.

If you put the X6-processor in the 3G, the 3G would have been crappy.

The Symbian OS is verry "heavy".

Because of the graphics accelerated hardware.

The iphone has better graphics capabilities and a lower screen resolution makes a big difference

The x6 or 5800 or even the n97 has the ability to run as smooth as the iphone even without the graphics accelerator. The thing is 1. Apple programmers work on single device with a single firmware (call it OS upgrade whatever...u get the point). On the contrary nokia has loads and loads of different models and firmwares to work with. They have different teams with very few ppl working on a certain model. The things they learn from mistakes/bugfixes don't get implemented in the next device/firmware. Just think about the the difference between 5800 v10 and v50. The phone is now a totally different experience. But all the things they've learned from this won't be implemented in any other devices this particular team has learnt because some other members will be working on the next device. Nokia just isn't organised in software development. Although now that the symbian platform is open source, the software development will be a collective and more productive environment

The lack of true multitasking on the iPhone is also a plus for better all round performance.
