well there is a bit of a flaw on this method. After hiding and unhiding (to view) a few times the browser will now show a single thumbnail (one of the hidden pics or vid) for all of the hidden files. Even when you refresh or restart the phone. When you do try to start one of these cloned thumbnails it will show an error. It works a few times but this method is not reliable.
I fixed it by having t move the files to my PC delete on the phone start gallery then restore files again.

well, correct me if im wrong, but "folders" in gallery are fake folders.
you create a folder, move the pictures there, and all done
just create a "trash" folder or "garbage"

the files wont be really moved in the memory card or internal memory ...

Yes I notice that too . All pictures even if they are in folders will show as root in the gallery. But I don't understand your concept of create a trash folder and "all done". What do you mean? and how is this in effect to the topic of hiding files?

What someone really needs to do is just create a viewer with folder support. Hiding and unhiding folders is a pain and like rainart said you get that weird thing of a single thumbnail in the gallery when you rehide the folder again.

AHHH, this is what i needed, i dont nessisarily care if anyone accessing the phone opens my Nudie Folder, but doing scrolling, and slideshows and all, to certain persons it wouldnt be good for them to be scrolling on by. also it was in Dire need of Organisation in general, just so wading through stuff , when looking for particular items is faster.

hiding isnt organising and sorting, so now maby i have gone horribly off topic and should be bannned , or self resign

I did not understand what you meant when you said this, because i did some things in the gallery and got nowhere.
but if you FIRST create a folder (or 2) in the gallery , then select a picture and then select "folder options" "Move to folder" you can painstakingly move pictures one by one ONLY in the gallery, to form a "album" of sorts, which changes the database.
so you CAN sort stuff in the gallery, for the gallery and by the gallery.

IF they would have just used the same MARK method , they used for contact grouping, instead of singular marking, that would certannly help. wherin you bring up MARK and then select all the pics to "mark" then copy and paste the marked over.

of course if 90% of your pictures are of the foldering kind, you can always mark ALL then move them to the folder, and move back the ones that you dont want there. that way you only have to move back the 10%.

Thanks for Providing the CLUES in your post, which i then explored.

i have everything sorted out in the memory card , how i would have LIKED to see it in any gallery or file utility, NOW i just redo all that in the Gallery TOO so it kind of looks like the memory card sorting.

then each slideshow of a folder, is a different album, because the slidshow doesnt cross folders so i can now have multiple different slideshows too. if i want to show the rescent hike pictures, i can just toss them all in a folder and play JUST that folder in the slideshow or album. . . . without getting any "surprises" poping up

why, now that i finnaly got it all done, what is wrong with that method?
i had to sort all the movies too.

of course it would just lead to one more problem, the folders dont show NAMES on them. you have to click on the folder then the name pops up. At least the items are all in alphabetical, including the folders. When you sort by title (which shows names) it sorts the WHOLE pile all over again.

it is as clean as a whistle now, even the NavMap Map Cache files which there were thousands of, i was able to sort to a folder in a few (final) steps. i should say Psudo folder. you know what its like to Slideshow through thousands of tiny PNG map files or , if i set the map folder to system or hidden, hundreds of blanks. seems i need to refresh the database to get the blanks gone?

selecting a wallpaper or a contact pic, now is easy as pie, i just select the folder , and the names DO show there.

no I guess I'm just kinda confused. I was referring to the topic of hiding files. But I missed that your not trying to hide the files just organizing as you stated. Well I'm glad you found an easier way to organise.
