    The card slot should work with all current classes of memory card. The higher the class, the faster the speed. Higher speed cards are particularly important if you want to record high quality video with your 5800, as slower cards will produce stuttery video files.

    Source -> MC on 5800

    But to me it sounds like ... higher speed = consume more energy = drain battery faster? Anyone know anything about this?

    Regards

    naah....very little or negligible power consumption difference with different classes....tried various cards on my N86 and theres no noticeable difference in battery life....what you say may be true....faster speeds may cause greater energy consumption....but the difference is not noticeable

    is the speed difference really that noticeable from a class 2 mem card to a class 4/6?

    The speed difference will make a difference in the speed of how the phone system can read the files of apps.

    A class 2 card limits the speed to 2mbps, so the application manager has a hard time reading the card if there are a lot of apps in it. Usually it can read up to 50-60 apps fine, but after that you start getting app manager memory full errors.

    Class 4 card bring the app number to around 80-100 i think.
