So, it's better if you uninstall the WMP and try to download the full version of WMP (10 or 11)

I experienced this problem when using Creative Zen M (MP3).
Your opinion came a bit late. I have just followed the suggestion from the link below and now MTP drivers are installed. The suggestions are exactly the same as you gave.
Many thanks to you anyway for your solution and to all others for support.

You can try this AT YOUR OWN RISK, This solved the MTP driver issue I had with my Sony MP4.

Copy ALL OF THIS into a text doc, then save the file as wpdmtp.inf and put it in windows\inf or wherever you want, really, just point it there when it asks for the drivers, OR, go into device manager, and "update driver" and point it wherever you have this file.

    hey homies...
none of the above solutions worked for me...
so after hours of toiling i finally nailed it...
unfortunate i formatted d memory card, reset the phone, and reinstalled ovi suite about 5 times... maybe for nothing...
later i found that Nokia Map Loader 1.3 does the trick...
when you start it, it asks you to your connect phone in 'data transfer mode' which is nothing but 'media transfer mode' so wen i switched to 'media transfer mode' at that prompt...viola! got the mtp driver finally installed...

this thing worked for me now i donno if a stupid guy lyk me should be giving suggestions but i thought i'd share...

so my suggestion is to not update nokia map loader to the latest version and use the 1.3 version and only after the mpt drivers are installed should you update...
hit thanks if this works ....coz im new :P

P.S. BTW... I luv this site

Hi. I have the same problem with Nokia 5800.. I'm trying to connect Phone to PC in Media transfer mode. In device manager I see that MTP-device has error 10 and MTP-device doesn't work. I tried to refresh drivers but it didn't work.

I use Windows Vista Ultimate with latest Service pack + WMP 11.. How can i reinstall WMP 11 ??

I've read I have to format memory card to solve this problem, don't I ??
