hey hi above... ya the nokia headsets particularly.. in simple language sucks!.. and they are degrading it with every handset they are launchin. i dont know whats on there mind. but yes its happening.
AS an alternative u can use creative EP 630 or Sony MDLR11LP , I personally use sony MDLR11LP .. they are great...

i also have a headset problem in my Nokia 5800.. if i connect the headset to the adapter (the small box with volume/next/previous/play/stop controls) only the right earpiece has a sound.. if i connect the headset directly without using the adpter, both earpieces have sounds.. any idea why? please...

mine is also working fine without any problem but yes volume is somewhat low...........i came to know that when i connected the same headset to my old 5310 xm and its sound was 30% louder than my 5800
but i now use sennheiser PMX60 i got free with 5800xm and sound quality is enjoyable and clear..............

if i connect the headset to the adapter (the small box with volume/next/previous/play/stop controls) only the right earpiece has a sound

yepp. there is a loose contact inside the adapter.
I had the problem. TWICE. -.-'
Now i got normal Earphones without using the adapter. so i have no headset anymore, but who cares. :/
