Default Re: What happened to my Mem card?! N5800

I had the same problem too. Like deserted, it happened to me twice before I got pissed off and took it to Nokia Care - I got it replaced under warranty, though they took over 2 weeks to get me the new card. While I was waiting, I used an old Sandisk 2G microSD card and had no problems. Since I got my replacement Nokia 8G card, I haven't had any problems either, but I have been careful to make back ups whenever I put something on the card I don't want to lose! Also I installed all my critical apps on the phone memory

Damn this thing happened to me yesterday! Lost my files which sums up to more than 5GB! I was surfing too but using Opera Mini and then when i checked again on my phone, everything was gone! completely!

I havent installed any apps lately and I always choose PC Suite mode when i connect my phone to my laptop.

Now im currently working on a custom firmware. It doesnt really bother me that i lost those files but i also lost my One Piece Manga collection which i havent made a backup on my laptop yet :/

Connect your phone in mass storage mode and use error checking (check desk) and select (automatically fix ... and scan for and attempt recovery ..) check boxes and check the memory card it will take some time. Then defragment. Then make sure you have the (hide protected system files) unchecked in ur explorer's folder option "not the hidden files". And while the phone is still in mass storage open memory card and you will find a folder usually named "Found.000", if u open it u will find loads of thumbs files. These are your corrupted files ... Delete this couple of gigas folder and there you go.

Same thing happened to me...I believe the bug is with the memory card supplied in the sales package and not the phone. I tried chkdsk and yes there were errors which could not be fixed so formatting the card was the only option. And since the files were not visible, backing them up wasn't possible either. My advise, go for a different memory card because you can expect this to happen again!!!
