Default 5800XM Search service changed after firmware upgrade to V20

Has anyone else experienced these problems, and if so, have you found a way around them?

I upgraded the firmware from V11 to V20 and have noticed a couple of things that I'm not happy with:
    • T-Mobile branding has appeared where previously there was none (on phone startup and the Internet icon has changed to 'Web'n'Walk')
    • My search function originally defaulted to Google, now there's only Yahoo and there doesn't seem to be a way to change it.

Can anyone tell me how either of these can be reversed please?

    Many thanks,
    Paul.

1st try to restart your phone after updating ...

after you have updated to v20 then u try to open the search program then choose :
search the internet> then they will let you choose the default provider.
and there will be 3 choice 4 u to choose..
    live search, yahoo and google.

U may also try choosing a different country/region from 'Settings' option in Search app, in case your country/region doesnt give u a choice of search engine.

Well looks like T-Mobile added branding and renamed the web browser to be web n walk and T-Mobile has a agreement with Yahoo so i dont think you can change the default search to Google.

Only option would be a debrand.

Nope: tried that already and I get only the one option (Yahoo!). When I first got my phone (V11 firmware) there WAS a choice and I chose Google, but following the update all other choices have been removed and I'm left with only Yahoo! (and I'm not very happy about it!).

My guess is that the upgrade for my product code was a T-Mobile-specific upgrade, complete with T-Mobile branding and choices limited to what T-Mobile want me to use.

Thanks guys, not what I was hoping to hear, but I guess I'll have to live with it.

I'm not overly keen on the idea of 'bricking' my phone having only just got it, and reading the guides seems to need a degree in geekology, so I'm guessing that my chances of screwing it up and being left with a dead phone are fairly high .

    Thanks anyway for your help.

    Regards,
    Paul.

Yeah, I had issues searching the internet with the built in search function too. How did you debrand it?
