    bricked my 5800 NAM RM-428 trying to downgrade from v40 to v20.

    Here's the log from Phoenix 2010 (ran it on Win7 with fw 40.2.005 files at the proper location)

    The thing is nothing happens after this. The NOKIA logo appears followed by a plain white screen and the phone goes black. Holding power button makes the phone vibrate, the Nokia logo appears and same thing over and over again. Doesn't go the handshake logo and then the bootup, NO. ANy help?

    you corrupted your permanent memory when you downgraded. this cannot be fixed with a simple usb cable and a cracked jaf. you will need a jaf box to repair this. take it to a repair shop.

    5800 dead when flash via OTA

    SOLUTION

    Flash via JAF and Phoenix

    RESULT
    JAF and Phoenix can't communicate with the phone in the end of process.
    Succesful flashing
    With non NULL VALUE.

    SOLUTION
    Sent it to Nokia Care Center.

    RESULT
    Mainboard problem, new replacement
    1 week repair

    COST: RM320.00 or +/-92.2 US dollar


    MORAL:
    Dont even thinking to update your phone if internet connection strength S*** like hell

    i didn't know that NSU could damage a phone that bad, maybe it crashed while changing the permanent memory or something but i guess, next time, i'll just update with JAF.

    Of course I want oreo, lol. I bought it on jan 2009, the warranty period is finish. I cant do anything with it, so sad.

    well, at least we know we've tried everything. i once lost a no scratch 5800 to a mugger and had a hard time to get a not so scratch free 5800 many months after. it's really cheap to buy a used one today so i hope you can get another one.

    i hav nokia 5130 XM.....i was workin nice and gr88 but suddenly its getting error
    "Contact Service" and phone gets switched OFF whn i try to ON it again ,it gives me same error and with in some "MILLI SECONDS" a screen splash with "Contact Service" in red letter and it gets switched off. i removed the sim card and try same ,i try with another sim card still same ...
    a guy told me to flash this phone.....
    after google all stuff i came across this , i hav download & install Phoenix software , also downloaded firmware of 5130 XM ,
    "i want know is this the same method(5800 method) should i follow for nokia 5130XM" i m using Windows XP , Nokia OVI suite which was given by Nokia with 5130 XM also my nokia 5130 XM is already or by default a unlock GSM phone . plzz help me

    i believe you corrupted the permanent memory which cannot be corrected through usb flashing. but you can try this method. although you can try and yes, it will be the same procedure mate.
