if that still fails, hard reset your phone before flashing.

is it safe to flash on my 5800 if it keeps showing "MTP usb driver installation fail"? or something like that
i googled for some fixes but they all show results for windows xp, and im using a 64bit ver of Windows 7.

yes, it is. MTP stands for Media Transfer Protocol and has nothing to do with flashing mate.

Hi all. I'm trying to reflash my dead N73 using Phoenix v2008.20.009.34260. The phone doesn't even turn on anymore. I connect it to my PC using the regular USB cable that comes with the phone. When I connect it to my PC, I get the "USB Device Not Recognized" message in my Windows taskbar so I know the phone is somewhat alive.
In Phoenix I follow the instructions for flashing dead phones that were posted in this forum, but Phoenix only gets to this point:

    Flashing started
    Creating product data items list
    Product data items list created
    Backup not required
    Flashing phone
    Initializing
    Loading image files...
Waiting for USB device. Press phone's power button (if you start from dead terminal)

I hit the power button but it never communicates. Any ideas? Do I need to get get on of those flashing boxes like Genie Universal in order to reflash a dead phone. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Hi masters. I have Nokia N73. And I did the NSU update to my n73, the downloading process was done but he installation process was failed.
I couldn't do anything to my n73, so I was forced to put the usb cable off. and after that, my n73 is dead. Cannot be turned on.
And I decided to re-flash my nokia using jaf. I ticked the manual flash, dead usb, factory set, use ini (I have prepared the firmware from navifirm).
But when I pressed the FLASH button, it always say failed. What happened and what should I do?

    Here is my log:
