    Default Re: Guide: Flash Your Dead 5800/any BB5 phone using JAF tool

    i didnt read through the 15 pages, has anyone managed to get a successfull downgrade using the soft pkey emulator for s60v5 handsets? and if it bricks can i unbrick by flashing back to my current fw?

    i read that downgrades require the hardware pkey box and special cables

    @borjok536 - try flashing back to the v31.0.101 to revive, downgrades is a whole different ball game

    MODs should really put in the 1st post that the downgrade process requires the pkey hardware and not to try it as its a sure way to make a brick

    only flashing current and newer firmwares works using this process with the pkey soft emulator

    Why don't you update the firmware using Nokia Software Update (NSU)? That is a relatively safe and straightforward process.
    also changing your imei is illegal, as thats the way your carrier locks your phone if you dont pay the bills - cool huh?

    Default Help Flashing Nokia 5800XM

    Hey All...I got my phone dead recently. I was browsing & it hanged suddenly then i pulled out my battery & juz put that bak again. Bt my phone wasn starting anymore from that time. Whenevr i press the power buton it shows the white screen with blue NOKIA word & then nothing happens...So then some1 told me my phone is bricked sumhow & i need to flash it.

    So far i searched....this forum helped me a lot. Bt im confused abt 1 thing. Theres a matter about Product Code. It seems i cant update my phone to the latest FW...as its P.Code is only availble with the version 2.1....Also i cant change my product code...as my phone is already dead!..So what i hav to do now if i want to install the latest FW to my dead phone using JAF..Anyone please help me!!!

    ...and also i want to know clearly about unlocking phone...i mean removing sim-locks.

    @freed@m,
    Before doing any flashing, try to deep reset your phone (all user data will be gone).
    Turn the phone off, then press ALL the following buttons GREEN, RED, CAMERA while turning the phone ON. Keep pressing until you get the Nokia handshake on screen. Password: 12345.

    @freed@m,
    What you describe should be cured by a deep reset. Are you sure you are doing it correctly?
    Once again step by step.
    1) Take the memory card out
    2) Switch the phone out
    3) Press and hold GREEN, RED, CAMERA buttons (don't let them go)
    4) Press the power button - the phone is starting, Nokia handshake is coming on the screen.
    5) Now let the GREEN, RED, CAMERA buttons loose and input the password when asked.

    If that doesn't work, time to read the first page of this thread - flashing with JAF.
