NSU will completely replace the firmware: it will wipe out the old firmware. Hence, the chances of incompatibility will be smaller (for example, you will not get an old icon in your phone menu, that will not work after the firmware update). This is also explained by the size of the file that does the update: a FOTA downloaded file for V31 was about 6MB, while the NSU downloaded file was about 135MB.

Here is a nice guide with screenshots that might help you through the process.

Yes, I believe I had the same issue.
As far as I can remember, I had Ovi Suite open at that time.
Only after I've closed it, NSS was able to recognize the phone...

    Usta,
    that was exactly the problem.

The phone has to be connected&recognized by Windows!
    I know,
    you said that before.
    But...
    Sudenly it just worked!
    And even better,
I've changed the code, and my menu's are in Dutch now.

Thank you for all your help and patience!

Default Need help in changing product code and updating firmware for Nokia 5800 XM

    Hi thr,

I'm very much new to changing product codes and my 5800 is of product code 0574328: MENA_E RED and yet no good news over v31 upgrade, so I have decided to change my product code to update my firmware.

I read an article on how to change product code using NSS and it was quite easy and I would like to change my product code to EURO1. can it be done? will the EURO1 firmware support GSM of DUBAI and India coz I frequently travel between both countries. I know my question sounds silly.. :P

If so pls suggest me a product code of EURO1 red; and how the update should be done? OTA or NSU.

And, After update can I change my product code back to 0574328?

Please suggest. Your help in this is very much appreciated.

    Thanks!

I apologize for making this as a duplicate post, I have already posted this question in "Nokia 5800 New Firmware Version - V31.0.008" but I find creating new topic would do good. Mod, you can delete this topic if you consider this as a duplicate post.

    Thank you, liliantungary!

And can you confirm me the languages supported in 0570026 (Anyways English is far enough :P) and will there be any network issue if firmware is changed from MENA to EURO2?
