What I'm saying is that Rofs3 overwrites files in ROFS2 which overwrites files in CORE (C00).

    howzit guys

Found this post by mistake.........anyways............have also been looking at making my own CFW for my nokia 5800 v50 but having issues ......i am taking a guess that most of your editing of your firmware should be then done via your ROF3 file

I have downloaded loads of the CFW's available from Upakul, Pirates_Killer and many more i really would like to try and create a firmware that I can post here and get reviews, comments and help from the users here at dailymobile.

    Thanks in advance....

I am sure this will help you out.
these are some files & folders which you should work with, as you are a first time modder.

    101F876F.txt - theme & wallpaper (0x9)
    101F8798.txt - profile
    101FFCD2.txt - search
    10207114\ - themes install dir
    \rofs2\Resource\skins\ - themes install dir
    101F8763.txt - startup screen & sound
    customersw.txt - custom sw name
    fwid3.txt - firmware id
    DefaultBTReg.ini - BT name
    lang.txt - Language

    SplashScreen.mif - Splash Screen
    startup.gif - Animated Boot Screen
    SysAp.mif - Shutdown Screen

use search for finding these files & folders. modify them as you need.
I am also attaching a description of all .txt files that you'll have to go through to understand what they do.

for the last 3 things you will have to go through a small procedure to create your own.
    i will specify it later
    remember the green arrow

    +1
    i'm also new at this

    here:

    "fwid3.txt - firmware id"

when i made mine (a couple of nights ago) i ran across this file and it contained the info about the "original" name/number/date of the firm
so.. i can still edit it and won't make a non-upgradeable phone?

i.e., supposse i change the 51 of the original version to 81, i doubt a 5800 will get that far, but if a v60 appears, the phone will still see it as an upgrade?
or will recognize it as a downgrade?

(self answer: if that was possible, then by changing that file, downgrading would be possible by changing v30 to v55 on that file, but i want to make sure about it)
