I can say one thing that ROM is super read-only!
    Rofs1,2,3 can be edited easily...

[b]Welcome2.exe is in ROM? How can you confirm that?

try extracting the core of 5800. nokia editor has the ability to extract files from rofs1. you will not see welcome2.exe which means it is in rom, however, we can place a blank welcome2.exe in rofs3 or rofs2 to overwrite it.

Overriding files in ROM can be done.

however, files taken from rom don't work if put in ROFS. Why? They have lots of information stripped from them, like Code relocation, Data relocation, Export descriptor, Import table, etc ...

Plus, ROM or what should be called XIP (Execute In Place), is like one big executable because all files inside are Hard-linked.

Simply speaking, files inside ROM aren't E32Images which is the format of the files inside ROFS.

    Adonix

PS: Maybe PNHT have a solution?

    ROM is a solid image.
and it contains only in core
and it should been owerwritten only as one solid image
because rom stored in special memory zone on fixed addresses

rofsX cant owerwrite it. only break system structure.
