Default First time CFW flashing, 5800, guidance needed

    Hey guys!

First I would like to start off by saying thanx for the awesome forum and I hope I will have a pleasant time here. Ok so I got my first Nokia ever about a month ago, a 5800 express music. WOW! I have been a Die Hard Sony Ericsson fan since my first Sony Ericsson, but Nokia kicks a$$!

But, to get to the point: I want to flash to a cooked firmware. v2 final to be exact (http://forum.dailymobile.net/index.p...c,18782.0.html). I have only updated through Nokia Update on the pc when I first got the phone (to v40) but have never flashed too a cooked FW.

First I need to know, will I loose everything on my phone? Like contacts and games? I know the music and videos and images are on my memory card (I have already copied the whole thing to my PC), but contacts are the most important. Secondly I need to know if there is a way to get direct http links to the original v40 firmware for my country? So that I can download the firmware files through a download accelerator.

Then I need a very, very good guide for flashing a cooked firmware, I DON'T WANT TO BRICK MY PHONE!

1.backup all your data by using nokia content copier(include in pc suite).

2.download a jaf tool compatible to your pc os.

3.download nemesis service suite to change the desired product code(search threads to know how to change product code).

    4.download your cfw.

5.then flash your cfw with jaf(search threads for jaf flashing tutorial.)

    Read This
    http://forum.dailymobile.net/index.p...c,19339.0.html
you only need the first 3 as you only want to flash your phone with readymade CFW and ATM do not want to make it, go to the links given on that page and follow its really...

    To summarize...
BACKUP PHONE CONTENTS BEFORE DOING THIS
    1) You Need Navifirm to download your original Firmware Files...
    2) Download JAF for windows
    3) Download your Desired CFW
    4) Change your original firmware files with CFW
    5) Paste them where JAF searches them

Hey guys, thanx for the replies so far!

Evertything makes a little more sense now. But the thing is I can't find where to backup contacts on ovi suite And the other thing is, I have only now realized how many CFW's there actually are, so which is the best (in terms of best mods, and most stability, and looks)?

    I don't want a buggy phone...
