Default Re: [Guide] how to add/delete language want/unwant

Ok...Now for all of you with difficulties regarding adding languages:

(No, I have never written tutorials or manuals )

I did it about 20 minutes ago on second try with (almost) perfect results.
Basically, I wanted to add Russian to the basic EURO1 firmware. I proceed as follows:

Step 1.) Extract a languagepack that contains the language you want to add
Step 2.) Search for *.*xx and *xx.* (xx being the code of the language you wish to add)
Step 3.) Select all those files (you will have to do it for every search) and add them to an archive whilst keeping their full respective paths. (I did it with WINRAR)

You will end up with 1 or 2 archives in which you will have the respective folders (private, sys, resource) containing only the language files.
You then have to merge these folders with the folders in the ROFS2 you want to add the language to. On Windows 7 (the one I'm using) it's done in Windows Explorer. Otherwise it may be a bit of a lengthy but not too complicated copy and paste process.

Step 4.) In sys/bin you will find your T9 or Zi8 file (this still being in the directory of the firmware you want to extract the language from) and you have to copy the T9/Zi8 file to the equivalent folder in the firmware you want to add your language to.

Now all you have to do is edit the language file in /resource/bootdata and you should end up with the original firmware and your extra language in it.

The only thing that doesn't work so far is the T9/Zi8 dictionary because I haven't found the index file for them yet. Somewhere there is a file in which it says which dictionaries there should be within your firmware file. If anyone knows where to find that file, I'd much appreciate it.

Hope the 'guide' helped. I'm really not too good at writing those I'm afraid...
For anyone interested, I created a drop in package for Ovi Maps 3.04.

    Thanks

Do we need to delete the language code in the text file as well?

I've change the language of 2 or 3 5800 CFW but all of them have a side effect, Full Qwerty, mini qwerty and Writing mode are gone.
Only when writing language is english that all keyboard modes are availble, come one knows how fix that?

Because you deleted the files. Read the tutorial again and see which are the files.

I managed to add my native language (Dutch) to a English-only firmware with full T9 support. This took some hex editing but its working. Anyone keen on a guide? It would take up many hours of my life, so I need to be sure that there are enough people who would use the guide.
