    The VPL file content:

    Code:
       <File>
        <Name>rm482_031.012_prd.core.fpsx</Name>
        <FileType>Binary</FileType>
        <FileSubType>Mcu</FileSubType>
        <Signed>false</Signed>
        <Optional>false</Optional>
        <Crc>22AD92FB</Crc>
       </File>
    Phoenix checks the CRC value stored for the file and the file's current CRC value and if they dont match outputs error on flash.

    The _signature.bin files holds a "digital signature" (more a file hash, dont know the algo - xmlsig ?) for every file in the flash group. If they don't match Pheonix doesnt allow you to flash that firmware version. So it recursive file checking.

    If you open the .bin file you'll find:
    <Signatures Version="2">
    <Signature>
    <File>RM482_0578286_031.012_002.vpl</File>
    <DigitalSignature>8DCCBE9CF09083182E2C72EA9D0995E4 AEDEBF555FD81EB7C41448C8254470E9204C6F89A0EF171ADD C21683EBCB3E246B89EE6A6DDEF1E31AC18113DC421FEF9C44 70226B27EDEEC9FD04AA09F6C0ACECBA5A4AB430E5826414A0 E1F6AF9A06D22F14C547ABA954AB041F6646C14A35D980FE45 F12D560DC4CE14D386925568</DigitalSignature>
    </Signature>
    and version stands for DP2 i think.

    Find a way to modify the values for the signature till then use the "patch" method: to create new files and them to the flash list using Phoenix.
    Here is an example: http://hwk.robits.org/software/nokia...-rompatcher23/.

    And the patch i made should work on other firmware. Give it a try and let me know.

    Best regards.

    hawkee,
    Can you explain the patch a little more please?
    Is patching only possible to the uda file? If so, does it have to be re-patched after a hard reset?
    Does this patching process occur after the flash and only apply to the c: drive?
    I would like to try this, but need to adapt it to an older device.

    You decompress an UDA file, remove the files from it, inject the rompatcher files (already installed) into the archive, and repack. The patch is removed after a hard-reset.

    The patch must be applied when you flash the firmware, not after.

    I don't think because the decoding of that string outputted junk.
