    1. Install the apps on your phone, via pc or by inserting the file to your phone then install it.

    2. Insert the app on to the memory card in a file, ex. E:/ freesign.
    3. open the app and tap = "Click" on "Add task"
    4. Select the file you want to sign and Click on option --> Click on Add --> self sign sis
    5. you will return to the first window, mark the app an choose "option" --> "Go"
    6. Finish =)

Go to the same file in the memory card. via the phone browser or the one you prefer, my ex. freesign-file then you will see the original app Göteborg.sis and the new one Göteborg.sisx.

Click on "Göteborg.sisx" and install. Enjoy.
Don´t forget to add some karma =)
I didn't work for Free iSMS. It said unable to install protected application. Nice try though as I almost did it - I reach in the installation process where message pop up like "unprotected source and not compatible to this unit".

I'm sorry guys i'm new to symbian os for phones and i just recently got a 5800xm ( my first smartphone). Could someone explain to me what signing apps is/does? What does the Certificate error message mean? Any reccommendations for cool apps would help too.

    1. try google for “freesigner”. get the software and install in your phone.

    2. then google for “opda cert”. get the cert and key file and copy those to your phone.

    3. run freesigner, open Settings and set Self Signed Cert and Self Signed Key to the two files stated in #2 above.

    4. sign all the .sis files (8 files) available from this gdesk download, using the freesigner. the files must be in your phone. after signing, u’ll get xxx_signed.sisx in the same folder of the original file. xxx = original file name.

    5. install gdesk as per instructions in this original post.

    hope this help.

That happens when you are using cert and key files invalid to sign app's for your phone. Try to get your own cert and key files from opda.
