Default Re: Handy Shell for Nokia 5800 and N97 (S60v5)

A great feature of Handy shell named DIAL&START (Which I used in my Nokia 5700 and missed till now in my 5800) has been re-opened with the help of virtual key.

Actually I am using virtualkey ver1.01 with Qwerty MOD by NCA as QWERTY keys or ALPHA keys are not supported in HANDYSHELL home screen till now with any other virtual key version. Now in standby screen of HANDYSHELL any contact/ application / Game etc can be searched easily by pressing the required keys in virtual key qwerty key pad. This reduces the no of keys pressed drastically.

The difficulties are the qwerty keyboard gets lost in crowded screen. The keypads are small for dialling by finger.

    Thanks

The virtual key 1.01 version can be downloaded from here
    http://www.dailymobile.net/forum/ind...ic,3317.0.html

The qwerty mod is to be unzipped and all the three files to be copied at c:\system\apps\wf_virtualkey\skin\default overwriting the existing files.

Nice app. Works well for me and at least i have almost all the shortcuts i need to start my day. Even the bluetooth turns on without having to go tru the blutoot app itself. Cool replacement to gdesk or even active stanby(in-built).

Trance, keep the good work going

that feature sounds very interesting, does that search for ALL the apps that u have installed? does it work like the t9nav app for s60v3 phones?

Yes it does work like t9nav and skyequikey and searches all the apps and contacts installed in my phone & mem card. Actually I used both these apps a lot in my 5700 and was missing this feature in 5800.
Now the same is also possible with virtualkey 0.94 and v_k skin. (See my latest post in virtualkey thread.
