    Default WhatsApp beta 2.0

    Hi folks,

WhatsApp finally arrived to Symbian S60.

    What is WhatsApp?
WhatsApp is an app, famous in the iPhone & Blackberry-scene which enables users of this app to instantly chat with each other. Both only have to have WhatsApp installed on their handset & chatting can begin.

Whatsapp is different to other chatting-programs, because it is much easier to use & you dont have to have a special client for it. Just type in your phone number & if you like your name and get started.

This app is still a beta, so please report any bugs to nokia-support@whatsapp.com. Since this is a beta, the mms and audio feature is not implemented.

You can either download the app here or within this post.

Note that I only participated in the beta phase since the beginning & now share that app with you because the beta phase went public. I am not! the developer of this app!!

    kind regards
    reclam

    Hi folks,

please post your experience with this app in the thread. Would be great if you report bugs either via the e-mail or via this thread.

If you still dont know what WhatsApp is, check out this . Although it shows the iPhone-version, it gives you a quick impression of what the app is capable of.

    regards

    I personally loved this app

but unfortunately none of my s60 or apple owner friends like such things as messaging in india is very cheap (eg - Rs.98 or appr. 2USD per month get us 21,000 local and national messages )
and my bb friends are happy with their bbm

    Hi,

yeah. That's what i forgot to mention. A unlimited data-plan is advised, otherwise it will be very expensive for you.

It doesn't take alot of bandwidth so even a small data plan will be enough,
But it does drain the battery.

I have a few bugs I encountered with:
    1. If someone sends me a message when I'm at a call it takes alot of time untill I receive it, even after ending the call.
    2. When I change the language from Hebrew to English, the whole chat history becomes opposite.
    3. No option to totally shutdown the app (It would be nice to have that option hidden somewhere in the menu.)

yes that would be actually very nice
coz removing it every time you actually want to shut down the app is really a pain in the butt......hehehe

well now ive removed the app (as none of my friends are into it) so i cant exactly recall, but as far as i remember even after killing it using a task manager (jbak in my case), it reopened in the background.

and even if it did close after killing (not sure). still it should incorporate an "exit" option in the "options menu" for general users who don't generally use 3rd party task managers.

just an advice as it's still in beta

    regards
