The Green button is the best button IF you don't use Handy Shell. Then the green button wont work to bring up the log of dialed numbers.

Like some others here said, using the menu button will make this button unusable, same with the red button, and using the camera button will result in no autofocus before taking a picture (it will focus if using the softbutton to take a pic, but then the picture will be taken, so no way to see if the focus is right before shooting)

So I find the Off button on the top of the mobile to be the best button to use if you are using Handy Shell (or if you experience other problems with other programs when you use the green key)

I don't turn of my mobile that often, and if I need to turn it of, I just press the menu button once, and then the off button will work to turn it off.

    Conclusion:

-"Green Button" is best for most people.
-"Off Button" is best if you use Handy Shell.

    EDIT:

After testing more, I found out that the off button has to be the best.
This is because the green button is used more than just to answer calls.
I use the green button to:

-Open the log (this can still be done if you use the green button as the pen key)
-Dialing a number from the contact list
-Dialing a number from the log
    -Direct dialing from an sms
-Bring up the numberpad if navigating in another program (browser, gps, music)

None of these things will work, except the first one.
So if you use the green key, then many functions of the phone wont work (probably more than the ones Ive listed).

But if you use the Off key on the top, then the only thing not working is to turn the phone off, but only if you are in a program.
So the only thing you have to do to make the button work, is to press menu button once, and the use the off button to turn if off.

So in my opinion, the OFF BUTTON has to be the best button to use as the pen key.

Thanks for the recommendation, TommyTott, the power button works great.

Is there any way way to hide the fact that The Pencil is running from the OS? It doesn't show up in the active applications when you hold the home button, but there is a running symbol next to the applications icon in the menu which is slightly annoying. I know it is possible because I have iSMS running too which isn't visibly running..

Thanks, but I just want it for The Pencil, since that's always running. I still want to see what other applications are running.

No.. it lets you select files in a file list ...
    For example:
    Dir C:\
    ..
    .
    Stuff.txt
    Porn.jpg
    hehehoho.mp3

then u can select stuff.txt and Porn.jpg for example. And do stuff like delete and it deletes all marked files or copy and it copyes all the marked files and so on.

The mark text stuff you are talking about is already built into the phone. U select text with your finger/stylus/pen and drag to select more
