Default Tip: Album art on CDs ripped with iTunes (Mac)

    Hello,

I had been annoyed by the fact that downloaded album art for CDs ripped in iTunes did not make it across phone (a N95-4) when using Nokia Multimedia Transfer -- especially since some other tools (like Salling Media Sync, see http://salling.com/) did this perfectly.

I finally found the problem, and the solution.

The problem is that album art downloaded in iTunes is not embedded into the tracks themselves (the .mp3 or .m4a file), but rather cached in a separate directory. While it is possible for transfer tools to embed these on the fly (like Salling Media Sync for Mac does), this is not done with Nokia Multimedia Transfer.

The solution is to use iTunes to embed the track into each individual track, as follows.

    * In the main iTunes window, under the leftmost pane (the playlist browser), there are four buttons. The last one is a rectangle with a triangle inside. Toggle this one to show the album artwork. If the caption of top of the artwork indicates "Now Playing", click on the arrow on the left side to switch to "Selected Item" instead.
    * Select a given album. (Select View -> as Grid, or View -> Show Browser).
    * Right-click on the album artwork, and select "Copy".
    * Right-click on the album artwork again, and select "Paste". This album artwork is now copied into every track inside the album as well.
    * Repeat for all albums that you ripped from CD.

Note that you need an Apple account to be able to download artwork in iTunes. Also, after you are done, you may need to erase all soundtracks from your Nokia phone, so as to force these to be copied over again next time you run Nokia Multimedia Transfer.
Found this info on the net!
