Default Re: Flashing with JAF for Newbie

    Ahhhh! Done it!

Right, for all other N97 owner who can't make this work, and have tried every possible length of short tap of the power button at the "Press ON now" step, don't bother.

When the step by step says turn the phone off, turn it off and disconnect the USB cable.
When it says "Press the on button now" plug the USB cable back in.

I think the problem might be because the N97 behaves like a USB memory stick even when it is turned off and connected via the USB.

hardreset and formated micro just to get a clean phone.
mine never formated micro before flashing and sometimes not hardreset too.
formated micro for clean your phone from installed apps if you dont do it some apps might not works well so better formated or delete sys, system, private and resource.

yes, indeed, and another technique worth mentioning is plug it in the usb without the battery. once the press power now appears, all you have to do is insert the battery and it'll immediately start flashing.

Hegazy works really well on the N97, loads more free memory. Annoyingly the Nokia update app on the phone keeps telling me there is a newer version of the firmware even though it suggests v22.0.110 and that's what Hegazy is based on, and reported by *#0000#... Oh well, it's not like I expected a Nokia to work properly, if it did I wouldn't be putting a CFW on it.

Word of warning, the default alarm tone is somewhat scary... It's an air-raid siren! I didn't think to check in advance and it certainly made me wake up pretty quick!

    2. Download and install Nokia PC Suite

    Flashing with JAF
    1. copy all firmware to : "C:\Program Files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\RM-356\"

    2. Conect your phone with PC Suite Mode
    3. now open OGM_JAF_PKEY_Emulator_v3.exe

    4. click GO

    5. Error: BOX DRIVER NOT INSTALLED ==> click OK

    6. Select BB5 ==> Manual Flash ==> Dead USB ==> Use INI

    7. Select your phone model

    8. You will see MCU, PPM, CNT, APE Variant become green

    9. Now TURN OFF your phone !! and then click FLASH button after that press power button (don't hold it) on your phone and JAF will start flashing.

    10. When flash will finish restart your phone (by releasing your battery and put it back)
