Default The Nokia N9 successor that never saw the light of day

The guys at MyNokiaBlog have shared leaked images of the Nokia Lauta, (codename RM-742), which was supposed to be the N9 successor (if the world was perfect).

Looking at the images, we can see that it runs the same Meego OS found on the N9 and N950. The most noticeable difference with this N9 is the keyboard, which was only available on the N950, and unfortunately that device was for developers only.

As a N900 owner, I really would have liked to own this device. I truly believe that the Meego OS had great potential, its just unfortunate that it was let go by Nokia. Heck, I wouldn't mind running Maemo 5 on an N9 device, but that's just me.
via

This makes me sad... MeeGo with Swipe is still the best out there.

I Bought a used Lumia 800 to test Windows Phone. And it is a smooth and quite nice OS. But I can't be without the awesome multitasking in the N9. Every day I found myself limited. It got to me how great MeeGo is when I switched back to the N9.

I really hope Jolla can make Nokias biggest mistake ever right again.

How do you think - will be new Firmware updates for Nokia N9 from Jolla or PR1.3 will be the latest update for this amazing device

No totally impossible, as Jolla has no rights for the Harmattan UI.
So they cannot develop N9 FW.
Their implementation of MeeGo will also be totally different from the on on N9. No Swiping UI for instance.

Nokia patented this, and while Nokia is licensng all of the necessary MeeGo patents to Jolla the whole Harmattan and Swiping UI stuff is NOT licensed to Jolla.

    But we'll wait.

I'm sure they will find some way to get a swipe ui, not like Nokia is using it for anything.
