Default Nokia N8 or HTC Desire

I am still thinking what could be my next phone.

    I love Nokia N8 for the features they offer..12MP camera..HDMI output...HD Video..etc...
I have Symbian as it's getting old looking day by day.

I like the 3.7 screen and android OS in HTC
I don't like the fact that it doesn't have a front camera...

What do you think. There are many experts here.

The other model that got my interest is Droid X - Motorola.

They both have their strong and weak points, so it's up to you consider what is more important for you.

I went for HTC Desire, because all things considered, I think it is the better phone FOR ME.

It depends what your looking for I guess.
I'd probably go for N8 because of the battery life and camera, however I like Froyo which now is not missing any major features.
Perhaps now is the time to switch to Android because I don't like the look of S^4

High megapixel cameras alone are no good selling points: this was proved in the past (look at Samsung Pixon series or SE Satio...).

What defines a good phone is the combination of great HW and SW.

Nokia N8 has a slower processor than the one in Desire (680Mhz vs 1Ghz). This is a direct impact on performance.

In addition, N8 has less RAM than the Desire (256MB vs 576MB). I know that some say Symbian is less resource hungry, but even that is not covering the huge difference here. I have 100+ apps/games on my Desire and I do not notice absolutely any change in performance speed or memory issues. Would that be the case in N8?

Above all, N8 has much inferior OS than Desire (Symbian^3 vs Android 2.1). I cannot stress how much pleasure it is to jump from S60V5 to Android. Now, S^3 is not that different from S60V5, so you can expect the same illogical deep menu structures. Desire is a turbo jet with the current Android 2.1. It is expected that soon it will be updated to 2.2 with was tested to be 5x faster than the current 2.1. I guess that makes the Desire a Super Turbo Jet...

I guess many mobile users were satisfied with Nokia over the years where there were not much of a competition within brands. Those days, Nokia supplied most advanced and user friendly handsets and they kept the users leaving Nokia to something else. This trend stopped with the introduction of iPhone and wide range or SE products as well as HTC products.

With the introduction of new operating systems, this become worse as Symbian started to look old looking when compared to Android and IOS as it's lacking the beat.

I am a hardcore Nokia user and I never bought anything other than Nokia after my first experience with 3310, the reason that I needed to find about Desire is the Android OS and faster handset. Nokia provides good hardware, but they are in vain as they deliver with Symbian.

If it's meego, or maemo, at least there is hope for a change

I really wanted to see the opinion from someone who's been there with Nokia for sometime and then moved to HTC.
