Indeed, have a fast but useless phone instead of a sometimes a bit laggy, but customizable, limitless phone.

Every phone has it's downsides, but iPhone is the worst phone ever created.

No flash support makes browsing on iPhone feel like browsing on a 6 year old phone compared to Symbian and Android. Sorry. True multitasking is also lacking (couldnt care less about my phone being a bit slower if its doing 7 things at the same time).

The real debate is whether Symbian^3 would be at par with Android. In terms of UI if we're talking HTC Sense, Android wins hands down. In terms of capability, they're basically on level with each other. OS-wise, Android wins simply because while both OS can do most important and relevant things needed, Android has way more apps. N8 supporting QT gives it the potential to go head to head (or even exceed) with Android in terms of apps simply because QT is way more capable the Java, however no QT app existing useable for the N8 gives justice to its hardware. Maybe next year, but by then S^3 would have moved down to middle midrange and upper midrange while S^4 and MeeGo going up against Android high ends (although S^4 and MeeGo QT apps will also be capable of running on S^3).

Android is the best OS of 2010 even after S^3 will be released, and the competition will really on start next year when QT apps start to roll. It all depend on how Nokia takes advantage of the advantages of QT over Java.

Symbian will never catch up with iOS and Android when it comes to stability and speed! Android is fully customisable. IOS is easy to make customisable with jailbreakme.com
Don't even look at Nokia, what makes anyone think that they will manage to make a good OS after all this years? Symbian^3 is S60v5 without double-clicks and with multitouch.

And that is more or less the only difference. So compared to any other OS it's very outdated.

Wrong, the UI is very outdated, but the OS is not. Furthermore, S^3 UI is customizable, as a developer can edit, change or delete any "gesture" he wants the phone to recognize or not. A UI shell is entirely possible should one want (Its all Nokia's fault for not changing UI, and not S^3. Do you really think Android looks like SenseUI or TouchWiz? If you've only seen Android on HTC or Samsung phones, then you really havent seen what Android really looks like, although it still looks quite better than S^3).

Currently its the only phone with QT app support embedded, and has several new features over S^1 (more than 200 in fact). However almost all of these features are stuff that developers would appreciate, as these new features cater more to application compatibility and capability and hardware support. The S^3 system is basically a testing ground for developers to develop QT apps for S^4 and MeeGo.

If Symbian is so outdated, why is android only getting flash support, using phone for wifi and a few stuff on Froyo in 2010 while Symbian has had it since 2007? "Outdated OS" as a term to describe Symbian is wrong, as it is "Outdated UI", which is totally different.
