Default Best phone to buy - April 2010

Every month new phones come out, and usually they are better than the existing models. One can always say "wait for the X model to come out", but what if you need to get a phone now? I'll try to put together a list of best phones that you can get in April.

For this matter, we'll define 3 categories:
    1) Budget - up to 200 EUR. Common phones in this category are budget feature phones, LG Cookie, LG Viewty, Nokia X3, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5530, HTC Magic, SE C903, Nokia E63, LG Arena, etc...

    2) Medium range - between 200 EUR and 400 EUR. Phones in this category include HTC Tattoo, Samsung I7500 Galaxy, HTC Touch 2, Nokia 5800, Samsung Galaxy Spica, Samsung Jet, LG BL 40, LG GW620, HTC Hero, SE Aino, Samsung Omnia II, Nokia X6, SE Vivaz, Nokia N97 mini, HTC Touch HD mini, HTC Legend, Samsung i8910 HD, SE Xperia X2, Nokia N97, etc...

    3) High end - above 400 EUR. Phones in this category include iphone 3GS, HTC Desire, SE Satio, Motorola Milestone, SE X10, HTC HD2, Nokia N900, Google Nexus One, etc...

I'll nominate 2 phones in each category as the best, because some phones might not be available in all countries.

So, the best ones for April are:
    1) Budget: Nokia 5230 or HTC Magic
    2) Medium: HTC Legend or LG GW620
    3) High-end: HTC Desire or Google Nexus One

There you go. Feel free to suggest your own.

If chosen only from your list, I would say:

    Lower: HTC Magic
    Medium: HTC Legend
    High: HTC HD2

Well I'm not sucha huge fan of HTC, but I think they have really good phones if you compare them with the phones for tha identical budget.

HTC Desire and HTC Nexus One looks really good phones now...

Here is the Desire/N1 now for over 800/750U$D, too expensive to change my N97-3 I thing... or is a good invest?

It's pity that those phones cost so much in your country.
Here in Holland HTC Desire goes for about 400 EUR without a subscription.

Tax? Indonesia surely has lower tax rates than Holland.
    For example:
    VAT - Holland (19%), Indonesia (10%).
Income tax max - Holland (52%), Indonesia (35%).

    So unfair...

Psssst! Here's a secret. Forget the Nokia 5230 and get the 5530 with wifi instead.

Buy a bluetooth GPS adapter for $20 - $30 and, voila! You have a 5800 with better software, better display, and smaller hardware.

It's almost an Android -- with a touch screen, free apps, flash camera, voip capabilities, and great sound. In addition most cell phone providers don't charge smart phone data rates for this phone. The only down side is the 2G/Edge data, but from what I've read Edge is not much slower than 3G anyway. I could be wrong.

I shopped for a long time to find everything I wanted in a phone. I am that pain in the ass customer who wants the world on a string, for $2 a month -- and I got it! $185 for the phone, unlocked. $10/month for prepaid T-mobile (GSM) + voip at home (free calls.) I use my data network away from home less than once a month so I really don't want to pay for a huge contract. I also shelled out $40 for a SquareTrade 3 year warranty because when it comes to complex technology, I find these warranties usually pay for themselves many times over.

My dream is to get the Droid Incredible but until I come up with $800 for one I would say I am pretty pleased with my solution.
