Vodafone Group PLC plans to eliminate hundreds of jobs at its U.K. operations in an effort to streamline costs, according to a Bloomberg News report Sunday. The world's largest mobile-phone company will announce the cuts on Tuesday, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter.

Vodafone earlier this month posted a 14% rise in third-quarter sales and lifted its outlook for the year to reflect the pound's decline

UPDATE: Vodafone on Monday confirmed it is to cut 500 jobs in its U.K. operations in a bid to drive down its operating costs.
